In a surprising turn of events during Sunday’s final round of the 2014 Honda Classic, Tiger Woods withdrew mid-round citing lower back spasms.
Woods, who had gotten himself back into the tournament one day prior with a stellar 65 on Saturday, started to struggle toward the completion of his front nine. After recording pars on hole Nos. 10-13, Woods shook the hand of his playing partner and headed to a tournament trainer.
The timing of Woods’ reoccurring lower back problems could not be worse as the Masters is less than a month away. The Honda Classic is part of the PGA Tour’s Florida Swing and a popular pre-Masters tournament in which most of the sport’s biggest names play.
