Let Me Take A Selfie: Ryder Cup Stars Join In On Craze

Earlier this month, a social media ban was announced for the Ryder Cup. It would have prevented fans from sharing photos and videos taken at Gleneagles, including — you guessed it — selfies. That ban was lifted just one day later and we’re glad it was because social media has been a gold mine this week. And not entirely because of the fans.

Players have been extra social, snapping selfies and photobombing left and right. In fact, selfies have somewhat taken over the pre-competition festivities, and I can’t say I’m mad about it.

Possibly the best one taken this week goes to the most interesting golfer in the world, Miguel Angel Jimenez. He was caught taking a photo of himself during the opening ceremony.

It’s fantastic. I’d even venture to call it “the most interesting selfie in the world.”

And he took one with a fan, too:

Rory McIlroy also shared a selfie with his teammates before the opening ceremony. No lack of talent in this one:

But it doesn’t stop there. McIlroy also helped out a fan.

And Lee Westwood joined in on the fun during the official team photo shoot.

Even Jim Furyk took one!

And we’ll end the terrific list of selfies on this one with Graeme McDowell doing his best “Blue Steel” impression.
