Did Sergio Garcia Learn His Lesson from Tiger Woods Comments?

Sergio Garcia spoke to CNN’s Living Golf last week to once again share his side of the story as it relates to racially charged comments made toward Tiger Woods. You know, that whole ‘fried chicken’ thing from May? Not good, Jim.

“I didn’t mean it in a bad way. When I was driving back to the hotel, I started thinking about it,” Garcia told reporter Shane O’Donoghue.

“Obviously, I didn’t expect that question at all and you try to be funny and it comes out the wrong way I guess,” he added.

Yeah, it came out the wrong way, Sergio. Just a bit.

Anyway, I’m willing to give Sergio the benefit of the doubt when he suggests his comments were meant to be, as fellow competitor Graeme McDowell said, “private and humor-filled”. The key part of that, of course, is to keep those comments private. I’m not sure what type of speaking relationship Woods and Garcia have in the locker room, but that’s not something the rest of us need to witness.
