Phil Mickelson doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to brag about himself. He has every right to, but he doesn’t take advantage of it. Or maybe he does.
Matt Kuchar shared a hilarious story about Lefty during his press conference on Tuesday, one that most people have probably never heard. While Kuchar claims to be a joker himself, Mickelson is apparently the champion of the comeback. And here’s why:
“I think the greatest thing I witnessed is when Phil Mickelson throws down the ultimate gauntlet when he doesn’t have a comeback to whatever you’ve said,” Kuchar said. “He just says, ‘Well, I’ve won so many majors, suck on that.'”
Kuchar also went on to say that there’s a certain player who Mickelson can’t say that around, and you can probably guess who.
“He can only say that if Tiger’s not around,” Kuchar said. “He kind of has to look over both shoulders and make sure, because then Tiger gives him his number.”
I would love to be around Mickelson and Woods when Lefty makes that joke. Or maybe I wouldn’t …
