2. The Curse of the Bambino
The 1910s were very good to the Boston Red Sox, winning four titles in a seven-year stretch — that is, until 1918. That year, the Sox sold the rights to Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees. From then on, the Beantown ballclub was hapless in winning Major League Baseball’s biggest prize, the World Series.
In 2004, however, the Red Sox overcame an 0-3 deficit to said Yankees in the American League Championship Series before sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals in four games to win the World Series. Three years later, they won again, defeating the Colorado Rockies.
