The LPGA Tour’s Lotte Championship in Hawaii had quite the eventful first round.
Aside from the stellar golf being played near the top of the leaderboard, American Solheim Cupper Angel Yin provided one of the most unbelievable eagle hole outs you’ll ever see on Thursday.
Starting on the back nine at Ko Olina Golf Club, Yin began her round with three consecutive bogeys before birdieing the par-5 13th hole. A par at the par-5 14th brought Yin to the short par-4 15th where a good drive put her in the fairway with a short iron into the green.
Playing partner Pernilla Lindberg had already stuck her approach shot to a few feet behind the hole when Yin struck her approach.
Seemingly unbeknownst to Yin, her ball struck Lindberg’s and ricocheted back into the hole for an eagle two.
By rule, Lindberg was able to replace her ball a few feet from the cup where it was struck by Yin’s.
Yin would go on to shoot an even-par round of 72, while Lindberg — who converted the short birdie attempt — bested her by one with a 1-under par 71.
Both players trail Nelly Korda who fired a 9-under par 63 to take the first-round lead over Eun-Hee Ji.
