Chappell finished the week first in strokes gained: total, meaning that his game was clicking on all cylinders. Where he excelled the most, however, was approaching the green. Despite large green complexes at TPC San Antonio, Chappell found the right part of the surface the more often than not, finishing in second place in strokes gained: approach to the green. He picked up more than eight strokes on the field average with his approach shots, including more than four shots in the final round alone.
