Tools: Woodland’s Winning Clubs at the WMPO

 

Gary Woodland won the Waste Management Phoenix Open on the first hole of sudden-death over Chez Reavie. The victory was Woodland’s first in nearly five years and became his third win on the PGA Tour.

Woodland is well-known for his ability to bomb the ball, which he did at TPC Scottsdale to the tune of 318.4 yards per measured drive, but it was his approach game that set him apart in Phoenix. Woodland finished second in the field in both strokes gained: tee to green and strokes gained: approach. His approach game accounted for 7.627 of his 11.664 strokes gained on the field average for the week.
