Xander Schauffele became the first person to punch their return ticket to Kapalua as he came from five shots back to beat Gary Woodland by a single shot at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
Schauffele’s course-record-setting 11-under par 62 was bolstered by a pair of hole-out eagles on the 9th and 12th holes. The win was Schauffele’s fourth of his career and second of the 2018-19 season.

There were no glaring weaknesses in Schauffele’s game this week as the San Diego State product ranked among the top-5 in the field in each of the six strokes gained categories. His largest advantage on the field average, however, came on the greens where he picked up 5.363 strokes.
