Tony Romo might be adjusting to life after competitive football a little too well.
Romo, a more-than-competent golfer, is competing this week in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am alongside PGA Tour pro Will Zalatoris, but his new career as a CBS NFL color analyst alongside Jim Nantz took precedent during the end of his Saturday round at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Romo was not only on the next-to-last hole of his day as a competitor in the pro-am competition on the Monterey Peninsula, but, for that hole, he also wore the headset so familiar to CBS Sports’ on-course golf analysts, like Peter Kostis.

Romo’s tee shot to the iconic par 3 landed in the front bunker, with an uphill lie, and the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback was taking some time to verbally spar with NFL partner Jim Nantz and six-time major winner Nick Faldo from their perch at the hole.
After Romo clipped the handheld microphone to his belt clip, he could hear Faldo critiquing his bunker stance as he was about to swing. Then Romo splashed out to about 10 feet with a good explosion shot. As Faldo was talking through his critique, Romo clapped back, saying, “It’s a different kind of sand, Nick,” explaining the finer nature of the grains at Pebble Beach.
