The much-anticipated return of Tiger Woods to an official PGA Tour event was short-lived. The 14-time major champion opened the Farmers Insurance Open with a 4-over par round of 76 on Thursday, and he followed that up with an even-par 72, missing the cut by four strokes.
This was Tiger’s 1st missed cut in a PGA Tour event in California since the 1993 L.A. Open, when he was a 17-year-old amateur.

Overall, Woods MC was just his 16th ever as a pro on the PGA Tour in 314 starts, but Woods was hardly alone. Big names like Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka, Jimmy Walker and Bryson DeChambeau were among those to also pack up for the weekend. While missing the cut was disappointing for Tiger, there were some positives to take out of his first two full-field rounds in a year and a half.

On the other end of the spectrum, Justin Rose leads the tournament at the halfway point at 8-under par, one shot ahead of Adam Hadwin and Brandt Snedeker. The crowded leaderboard extends to everyone with a weekend tee time; there are 79 people within eight shots of Rose.
