Stricker, O’Hair Shoot Scramble to 57 at QBE

The question inevitably comes up during golf outings and scramble tournaments: what would a foursome of Tour pros shoot in an 18-hole scramble? On Friday at the QBE Shootout at Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, fans were treated to the type of decisions, shot-making and scores that the pros would put up in a true scramble format.

The only catch, however, was that the pros were on two-person teams, instead of the normal four. Even still, the scores were probably enough to win most corporate outings on a similar layout. Playing the 7,300-yard course, the team of Steve Stricker and Sean O’Hair carded 13 birdies, an eagle and four pars en route to a first-round 57.

The impressive round wasn’t even a runaway. Brendan Steele and Keegan Bradley shot a 58 and Bubba Watson and Brandt Snedeker shot a 59.

The QBE switches up the format over the next two days. On Saturday, the format will be a modified alternate shot and Sunday’s finale will be better ball.

Here are the complete first round highlights of the QBE Shootout.
