Ryder Cup Hopes On The Line In Connecticut

With the 2016 major season in the rearview mirror and along with it, double points opportunities for players looking to earn a spot on the United States Ryder Cup team, every week counts heading towards Hazeltine. A crowded top of the leaderboard at the Travelers Championship heading into the weekend in Hartford personifies that.

One of the four co-leaders of the event is Daniel Berger. Currently sitting at 18th on the Ryder Cup standings, Berger needs a strong finish to the year to earn an automatic spot on Captain Davis Love III’s team. At the very least, he needs strong showings down the stretch to quell any concerns about lingering injuries that have hampered the reigning PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.

Further down the Travelers leaderboard, the likes of Russell Knox and Soren Kjeldsen are making their last-ditch efforts to gain entry to Darren Clarke’s team room.

42 players enter Saturday’s third round within four shots of the lead, meaning a low score on moving day could give us a good look at the eventual champion.
