The hole must have looked mighty big to Chez Reavie during the second round of the Sony Open in Hawaii as the 37-year-old Tour veteran became the first player in since the PGA Tour started collecting hole-by-hole scores in 1983 to eagle three par-4s in the same round.
These weren’t your run-of-the-mill short par-4s, either; each of Reavie’s hole outs came from over 100 yards.
“You hit good shots and you just don’t expect them to go in,” Reavie said after the round. “It’s still a surprise when they drop.”

When his third eagle went in on the 6th hole — his 15th of the day — his playing partners, Michael Thompson and Brian Stuard, went full hockey fan on him.
“They all took their hat off and threw it at me,” Reavie explained. “It was a hat trick is what they did.”
Unconscionably, none of Reavie’s three hole-outs were caught on camera, but that didn’t mean there weren’t enough fireworks to go around on Friday at Waialae Country Club.
Reavie wasn’t the only one to find the bottom of the cup on Friday from a long distance. Keith Mitchell finished his round in ridiculous fashion, playing the final three holes in 5-under par thanks to an ace on the par-3 16th, a birdie on the par-4 17th and an eagle on the par-5 18th.
Patton Kizzire also got in on the action, dropping in an eagle from 147 yards out on the par-4 14th hole.
Reavie and Mitchell notched 5-under par 65s while Kizzire shot a 2-under par 68. All three will start the weekend inside the top-10 and playing catch-up as they hope to track down Matt Kuchar, who shot back-to-back 7-under par 63s to take the 36-hole lead.
