The Farmers Insurance Open has been a tale of two days for Jon Rahm.
Playing his first round on the easier North Course at Torrey Pines, Rahm was en fuego making seven birdies, two eagles and a bogey en route to a 10-under par 62. On Friday on the South Course, Rahm couldn’t get anything going, offsetting his two birdies with two bogeys to shoot even-par 72 and fall out of the lead.
Thankfully for the Spaniard, his first round majesty was enough to uphold his mediocre second round and keep him in contention, but it wasn’t without a fight.
Always known for his fiery temper, Rahm let a day’s worth of frustrations out on the par-3 11th hole. Sitting at 1-under par for his round and 11-under for the tournament, Rahm fanned an iron out to the right on the 215-yard hole.
Before the ball even reached its apex, Rahm discarded the club emphatically, tomahawking it into the ground and subsequently making an attempt to kick it.

Rahm would blast out to 13 feet and miss the par putt to drop back to even par on the day.
Rahm, who won at Torrey Pines in 2017 in his maiden victory on the PGA Tour, is still in the hunt, tied for third with Billy Horschel and Ryan Palmer, five shots back of Justin Rose.
Rose played a beautiful second round on the tougher South Course that included seven birdies against just one bogey. He takes a three-stroke advantage over Hideki Matsuyama into their third-round pairing.
