The saga of embattled PGA Tour pro John Peterson took another interesting turn on Thursday.
After deciding to give professional golf one last shot at the Web.com Tour Finals after announcing his retirement from the sport earlier in the year, Peterson showed up at OSU’s Scarlet Course for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship hoping to make a move into the top-25 in Finals money to earn his PGA Tour card for 2018-19.
The Fort Worth native got off to a poor start bogeying four of his first six holes. After knocking in a 10-footer for bogey on the par-4 15th hole (despite the error made on the graphic), Peterson took a few steps past the hole and snapped his putter with his leg.

At 3-over par for the day and with 12 holes to play, Peterson played the rest of the round putting with a 52° wedge, which he used effectively. Over the final 12 holes, Peterson made 9 pars, two bogeys and one birdie to shoot 4-over par 75.

Peterson fired a 5-over par 76 in the second round to miss the cut.
