As the saying goes, “there are no pictures on the scorecard,” but Alex Noren’s scorecard itself was worth the picture after the Swede posted a 2-under par 70 at the Hero World Challenge that was much more entertaining than the final score would indicate.
The first 13 holes of Noren’s round were pretty mundane — 10 pars, two bogeys and a birdie — but over the last five holes, Noren didn’t card a par or bogey and played them in 3-under par, thanks to an ace on the par-3 17th hole at Albany Golf Course.
Noren birdied the par-4 14th, eagled the par-5 15th, triple bogeyed the par-4 16th, aced the par-3 17th and birdied the closing hole to end one of the wildest stretches of golf ever seen.
The wild ride ended up moving Noren two spots down the leaderboard, putting him into a tie for 8th place heading into Sunday’s final round in the Bahamas.
He trails a trio of 54-hole co-leaders — Henrik Stenson, Jon Rahm and Tony Finau — by five shots.
