LET Playing Tournament Under The Lights

Usually, it’s the European Tour that’s pushing the boundaries of what we know to be normal tournament golf, but this week in Dubai, the Ladies European Tour is taking an event to the next level.

The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters has transformed into this year’s Omega Moonlight Classic, the first-ever day-night professional golf event.

The 54-hole event was moved up on the calendar from December to May, and will feature the top 35 players from the LET’s Order of Merit as well as 20 other invitees headlined by former World No. 1 Shanshan Feng.

“We think playing under lights is going to be absolutely awesome,” tournament director David Spencer said, according to GolfDigest.com. “Playing the tournament in May and under lights further showcases what an incredible golfing destination Dubai has become and how long our golfing season lasts each year.”

The event will be played on the Faldo Course at Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, which was redesigned by 6-time major champion Nick Faldo in 2005 with the inclusion of floodlights in mind.

The event begins on May 1.
