Jimmy Walker Sinks Walk-Off, Hole-Out Eagle to Take Early Lead at Bay Hill

A good round of golf for Jimmy Walker turned special on his last swing of the day at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Plodding along at 3-under par and trying to pick up one more birdie on the iconic 18th hole at Bay Hill Club and Lodge, Walker piped a 308-yard drive on the 458-yard par-4. With just 131-yards to the hole, the 2016 PGA Champion stuffed it.

The walk-off eagle catapulted Walker to 5-under par and into the lead through the first wave of Thursday’s round.

Walker has had a tough go of things of late as he has dealt with the lingering effects of Lyme disease. Walker announced his diagnosis in April of 2017 and since then, he’s missed eight cuts and recorded just one top-10, a T8 that came last month at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
