Horschel Blows Short Putt, Eliminates Self From Playoff

Sometimes golf just sucks. Billy Horschel had made a concerted effort to improve his short game heading into 2017. The fruits of his labor saw the 2014 FedEx Cup champion force his way into a five-way playoff this past weekend at the RSM Classic. However, on the first playoff hole, after all five competitors missed their birdie looks, Horschel shoved his par putt, eliminating him from the event.

With his self-analysis over, at least Horschel could go home and relax in the build up to Thanksgiving. Or not…

Tough couple of hours for Billy Ho.

The event did go on, however. Mackenzie Hughes, a rookie from Canada holed a clutch putt from the fringe on the third playoff hole to take down his first PGA Tour victory, outlasting Camilo Villegas, Henrik Norlander and Blayne Barber.
