Stenson Flails Barefoot In The Water At Bay Hill

Things haven’t gone Henrik Stenson’s way of late. After withdrawing from the first World Golf Championship of 2017 due to a stomach virus, Stenson put together a respectable week at the Valspar Championship before msising the cut on Friday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a tournament he has played exceptionally well at in the past.

En route to his second-round exit, Stenson found some trouble on the par-4 11th hole. Coming up short and left on his approach, his ball trickled down a bank and into the water. Still within reach of the weekend, Stenson attempted to escape from trouble by losing his shoes and wading into the water to play the shot. What came next was something you’d expect to see at your local course, not on the PGA Tour.

Golf is a humbling game, and Stenson found that out shoeless at Arnie’s place on Friday afternoon. He made a triple-bogey 7 and ended up missing the cut by two strokes.

Charley Hoffman is not having the same struggles as the World No. 5. A second-round 66 has Hoffman in solo possession of the 36-hole lead, one shot clear of Emilano Grillo. Here are the complete second round highlights, courtesy of the PGA Tour.
