Matt Every has only made 6 PGA Tour starts in 2019, making the cut in half of those events. However, when he does play the weekend, he tends to play well, with his worst finish this year being a T16 at the Puerto Rico Open.
Back in contention his week at the AT&T Byron Nelson at Trinity Forest, Every displayed some of the fire that is burning below the surface when a fairway bunker shot on the par-5 14th hole didn’t go according to plan.
At 6-under for his round, Every found the sand off of the tee, leaving him 303 yards from the hole. Every then had to blast out from an unlucky lie, only able to advance the shot 19 yards.
After that, Every used the slope of the bunker to unleash one of the best-looking club throws you’ll ever see. While any video evidence of the incident was scrubbed from the internet, Getty Images was able to catch the throw in frame-by-frame detail, as shared by PGA Tour Latinoamerica pro Tee-K Kelly.

Every would go on to bogey the hole, but he got the shot back at the par-4 18th to post a 6-under par 65.
Trailing 36-hole leader Sung Kang by four shots heading into Saturday’s rain-delayed third round, Every again got off to a hot start before darkness caused the suspension of play.
Every shot 6-under par on his front nine thanks in part to the pokiness of his playing partner, Kang, of whom Every paid a backhanded compliment.
“It was like a normal round of golf for me,” Every said. “It was playing super easy, so I wasn’t like I had time to be nervous about anything. I just needed to keep making birdies. I got in a nice rhythm. We didn’t have to wait on the group in front of us once, I think, which was kinda nice. Sung decided he wanted to play slow today, so when we got to our balls, we got to hit. It was nice.
Every took a 1-shot lead into the continuation of the third round on Sunday morning. The leaders will have to play 27 holes on Sunday in Dallas to crown a champion on Sunday evening.
