DeChambeau Intentionally Damages Green In Mexico

For the second consecutive week on the PGA Tour, Bryson DeChambeau has been caught on camera intentionally damaging the golf course out of frustration.

Playing last week at The Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club, DeChambeau was caught by PGA Tour Live cameras taking a chunk out of a greenside bunker on the par-3 16th hole during his opening round.

Then, on Thursday in Mexico City for the WGC-Mexico Championship, DeChambeau was again caught on camera damaging the course. Following an opening round of 4-over par 75, the 5-time PGA Tour winner was shown in the background of a Sky Sports segment with PGA Champion Rich Beem driving his putter into the ground.

DeChambeau made an effort to fix the damage he caused to the putting green, but for someone who preaches the importance of keeping an even-keel attitude on the course for optimal brain function, an alarming trend may be developing.

In light of the disqualification of Sergio Garcia from the European Tour’s Saudi International for intentionally damaging five greens over the course of his third round, DeChambeau’s actions are seen in a different light.

Beem took to Twitter after seeing the clip to call out Bryson for his actions.

“Holy cow! What the hell was that??!? C’mon @b_dechambeau, ya gotta do better than that pards,” Beem tweeted. “4 wins in 11 starts starting with 1st playoff event in 2018, and the game still owns you. It’s not a game to predict or perfect.”
