Choi Wins With Craziest Swing In Golf

Hosung Choi, the South Korean golfer who went viral earlier this summer as a result of his unique golf swing, proved that a swing’s aesthetics don’t always match their effectiveness by winning the Japan Golf Tour’s Casio World Open this weekend.

“The Fisherman,” as Choi is known because of his previous job, captured his second JGT title as well as ¥40,000,000, or $354,140, naturally doing so in incredible fashion.

Twitter user Yong Lee documented Choi’s closing birdie on the 18th hole at Kochi Kuroshio Country Club.

The four on the 72nd hole was good enough to move Choi ahead of Australian Brendan Jones. Y.E. Yang, the 2009 PGA Championship winner, and Yuta Ikeda tied for fourth, three shots back of Choi.

With the win, Choi moved from 351 to 209 in the Official World Golf Rankings, the highest ranking of his career.
