Phil Mickelson’s foray into social media has added a level of friendly banter and needling on the PGA Tour that few others could have provided.
The latest example of his influence came on Monday when Bryson DeChambeau, perhaps the only player on the PGA Tour that is more analytical and calculating than Mickelson, was sharing the progress of his in-home gym with his 230,000 followers.

DeChambeau’s Instagram story showed off some of the new equipment going into the gym before a video of the 5-time PGA Tour winner came on where he called out Phil to raise his calf game up.

“Alright Phil, I’ve watched your videos,” he said while working out his left leg. “Quite honestly, I haven’t seen much weight applied to it. Only 50 pounds… I’m going up every day. Let’s see what you’ve got.”
Mickelson hasn’t been active on Instagram since Masters Tournament week when he viciously called out Matt Kuchar, but there’s little doubt that the G.O.A.T. trash talker will have something to respond with sooner rather than later.
