Chamblee: DJ’s Drive Greatest Shot in Golf History

Dustin Johnson’s near-ace on the 433-yard par-4 12th hole during the final round of the Sentry Tournament of Champions is rightfully earning praise, but was it the greatest shot ever hit in the history of the game? That’s what Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee is arguing.

What’s not up for debate is the impressiveness of the shot, but to conclude that a shot hit during a 34-man event when the result was all but guaranteed seems a little ridiculous. Of course, Chamblee likes to toe that line between the ridiculous and the sublime, but to his credit, he never backed down from his assertion, regardless of the matter of backlash he received.

There have been any number of shots that were just as impressive with larger prizes on the line, but Chamblee did use the caveat that the list was of his “favorite shots on the PGA Tour,” not a definitive list.

Where do you think DJ’s drive ranks all-time? Let us know in the comments below.
