10 Worst Hairstyles On Tour

There’s a reason why most go golfers wear hats. Besides protection from the sun, it covers up hairstyles like these.

In Honor of National Hairstylists Appreciation Day, here are 10 examples of Tour pros needing to go back to the hairstylist to take care of these mistakes.

While we applaud Rickie Fowler supporting his country during the 2014 Ryder Cup, writing things into your hair is certainly going to get you on this list. Whether it was a bet he lost or if he really did it to inspire the team, unfortunately, it didn’t work. Team USA went on lose at Gleneagles in Scotland that week, which led to the formation of the “Ryder Cup Task Force.”

At least it was better than his surfer dude haircut from back in the day with his oversize flat brim hat… or this

Ian Poulter

This monstrosity on top of Ian Poulter’s head at the 2004 Masters is one for the ages. The Fiery Englishman flaunted his frosted tips through his awful purple visor. We’re surprised Augusta National even let him play with that thing on his head.

John Daly

John Daly’s motto is “grip it and rip it,” but judging by this beautiful mullet, his other motto is “business in the front, party in the back.” Back in the late ’80s and ’90s, Long John rocked this amazing hairstyle to go along with his bad boy attitude which won him two majors; the 1991 PGA Championship and the 1995 Open Championship.

Tiger Woods

Tiger took a page out of the boy band book back in 2004 when he decided to dump a bunch of bleach on top of his head and see how it worked out. By the looks of it, it appeared to be a disaster. No wonder he didn’t win any majors that year!

Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy used to proudly display this mop under his cap back in the late 2000s. Here he is at letting all those curls roam free.

Andres Gonzales

Andres Gonzales does an uncanny job of mixing golf with the Hells Angels bikers. His long flowing locks combined with a modern-day fu manchu have been a staple on Tour for the last several years. Unfortunately, it's usually too hot on the course to wear leather chaps and jacket.

Brad Faxon

Brad Faxon is one of the best putters the game of golf has ever seen. Unfortunately, his hair is also unlike something the game has ever seen. His blond lettuce has some serious elevation and even appears to be different lengths in spots. It's a good thing hair has nothing to do with rolling the rock.

Charley Hoffman

Charley Hoffman used to have some of the most hilarious hair on tour. His blonde curls were almost Harry from Dumb and Dumber-esque. He has since cut it and it probably isn't a coincidence he's been in the mix more often in bigger events including winning twice.

Gary McCord

While it's not necessarily a hairstyle, facial hair still counts. Gary McCord's handle bar mustache is a tradition unlike any other. Ironically as we say that, he's been banished from Augusta National for saying something to the effect that the greens have bikini wax on them.

Boo Weekley

Boo Weekley's hairstyle is a beacon of hope for middle-aged male golfers. Knowing full well the top is on its way out, he chooses to cling to the scraps on the sides for dear life. Throw a hat on and let the beard grow out and he looks like he is in no way follicly challenged. Brilliant!
