Only a select few golfers get a chance to get on TV for doing something other than playing golf. Usually, it requires winning a major or if your name is Tiger Woods. From daytime and late night talk shows to even primetime appearances, here are 10 great tour pros appearances on talk shows over the years.
Lee Trevino on the premier of Feherty
David Feherty is the host of the Golf Channel’s hit talk show appropriately named Feherty. Since its premier in 2014, it’s become the most watched original series in the network’s history drawing some of the biggest names in the game. His very first guest was his good friend and mentor Lee Trevino. The six-time major winner is a natural in front of the camera with his uncanny story-telling ability along with his decades of experience. In this clip, the Merry Mex recounts the time he was struck by lightning, but reveals there might have been some karma involved considering he infamously said “God couldn’t hit a one iron” the week before.
Jordan Spieth on The Tonight Show
Jordan Spieth appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon back in 2016 to promote the first playoff event of the FedEx Cup. While he was there, he chatted about playing with Bill Murray and talked about the time he pulled of a “miraculous” stunt when he flopped a marshmallow into his own mouth. Fallon takes it one step further and tried the stunt on TV. It didn’t go so well!
Tiger Woods on Ellen
Ellen isn’t one to just sit and talk with celebrities; she’s a bit more creative. Back in 2012 Tiger Woods appeared on her show to promote his video game, and they held a hitting contest. Tiger was vintage Tiger, and Ellen “shocked herself.” How about both of those swings?!
Rory McIlroy on The Gerry Kelly Show
Of course, there was Tiger on “The Mike Douglas Show,” but there was also Rory on “The Gerry Kelly Show” as an 8-year-old, chipping balls into his mum’s washing machine. Check out the Nike shirt! Rors has been on brand since he was eight!
Annika Sorenstam Retires, Reads “Top 10”
Back in 2008 Annika Sorenstam hung up her sticks and retired from the ladies game leaving as one of the most decorated golfers of all time. David Letterman honored her on The Late Show by letting here read the “Top 10 Reasons Why Annika Sorenstam Is Retiring.”
Bubba Watson on Piers Morgan Tonight
After winning his first Masters, Bubba Watson enjoyed a bit of a media tour, and Piers Morgan was allowed in on that because, oddly enough, Watson thought Morgan was a “prick” on “America’s Got Talent.” Classic Bubba.
Justin Rose on Late Show With David Letterman
After picking up the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion near Philadelphia, Rose made his way up to NYC to read a Letterman top-10 list: Questions People Ask Me About Golf. Some of them were questionable themselves!

We go back to Feherty for his two-hour tell-most interview with Phil Mickelson. First of all, Phil decided to wear a leather jacket which meaning the bar was already set high. Needless to say, this exchange didn’t disappoint. Lefty was asked about his thought process and immediately he starts out by saying, “Do you want me to touch on it?” He then goes through every nuance that enters his mind…and it’s astounding.

Back in 2014, the much-anticipated appearance of golf’s biggest superstars didn’t disappoint on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon — although it would’ve been great to see Woods take part in “Facebreakers” as well. Instead, McIlroy smoked Fallon and an injured Woods just made fun of the host.
