So here we are. The final PGA Tour event of the season is underway, the climactic Tour Championship. Winner of the tournament gets $1.4 million, but really what the players seek is the $10 million that comes with winning the FedExCup points race.

That nice little payout would be more than any golfer has earned this year on the PGA Tour. But really, some guys could use it more than others. Not that any golfer playing in Atlanta this weekend is truly hurting; each of the 30 has earned at least $1.6 million this season.
But we took a look at each of the 30 qualifiers for the FedExCup’s final round and how much they have earned this year and in their careers. There’s quite a discrepancy from top to bottom.
Now, of course, some guys are further along in their careers than others. Rookie Jordan Spieth, for example, has collected $3,171,819.50 this year – and in his career. The 20-year-old is the youngest player ever to compete in the Tour Championship, and will go up against 46-year-old Steve Stricker, the oldest player in the field this week; he’s earned more than $38 million in his career.
Still, the numbers are interesting regardless of career length. While a 37-year-old Tiger Woods has raked in more than $8.4 million this year and over $109 million in his career, 33-year-old Brendon de Jonge added $1.6 million this year to a career total of $8 million. Luke Donald may own more than $30.6 million in his career, but only $1.7 of that came this year. Roberto Castro boasts $2,682,259 in his career – $1,927,164 from the past nine months.
