Redemption was the story heard from Colorado as Billy Horschel erased a recent crushing collapse to claim one of the season’s most important titles. Elsewhere, an American won his first event in Europe, while a newcomer also won for the first time on the Champions Tour.

Billy Horschel Bounces Back For BMW Victory
On Monday, Billy Horschel chunked away a chance at winning the Deutsche Bank Championship. Less than a week later, he claimed the BMW Championship.
Not a bad turn of events for the 27-year-old.
Horschel followed his third-round 63 with a 1-under 69 Sunday to hold off Bubba Watson and win the third leg of the FedExCup playoffs at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills, Colo.
The victory was jump-started by a barrage of birdies on Saturday, erasing the memory of his mishit 5-iron into the 18th green on Monday at TPC Boston. This weekend, Horschel was in control and will head into the season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake No. 2 in the FedExCup standings — and well within contention to earn the $10 million payoff for the playoff champion.
David Lipsky Wins Omega European Masters
Against a beautiful, mountainous backdrop in Switzerland, American David Lipsky won the Omega European Masters title, beating out Graeme Storm in a playoff.
Both players finished 18-under before Lipsky won with a par on the first playoff hole.
It was the first European Tour win for Lipsky, who hails from Los Angeles.
It wasn’t all bad news for Storm, though. On Saturday, the veteran — whose only tour title came in 2007 — won a brand-new BMW i8 Hybrid thanks to a hole-in-one.
Wes Short, Jr. Wins First Champions Tour Event
There was another first-time winner this weekend as Wes Short, Jr. stormed back on the final nine holes to claim the Quebec Championship.
Short, Jr. carded a 29 on his inward nine Sunday at La Tempete Golf Club to top Scott Dunlap by a shot in what was the first PGA Tour-sanctioned event in Quebec in nearly 60 years.
Dunlap won just a few weeks ago and took solo second place while Brad Faxon and Esteban Toledo tied for third, finishing four shots back.
Adam Hadwin Hangs On For Web.com Tour Chiquita Classic Title
Canadian Adam Hadwin withstood a surge from John Petersen to win the Chiquita Classic at River Run Country Club outside of Charlotte, N.C.
At 18-under, Hadwin cleared Petersen by two shots and earned $180,000 in the process. The win propelled him into a tie for the No. 1 spot on the Web.com Tour money list alongside recent winner Bud Cauley. The Web.com Tour Finals include four events with 50 PGA Tour cards up for grabs.
Next week’s Nationwide Children’s Championship precedes the Web.com Tour Championship the following week at TPC Sawgrass.
NCAA: South Carolina Wins Carpet Capital Collegiate
South Carolina emerged from a logjam atop the leaderboard Sunday to claim the NCAA golf season’s first major event. The Gamecocks finished at 16-under, outlasting host Georgia Tech.
Ollie Schniederjans, the top-ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, earned medalist honors thanks in part to a 4-under 68 on Sunday.
