Thomas Pieters Snaps Club, Throws It In Gorse

If your name wasn’t Henrik Stenson or Phil Mickelson, then chances are you had a tough time around Royal Troon this past week. We saw what Rory McIlroy did to his 3-wood on Saturday and on Sunday, the Belgian Bomber Thomas Pieters exploded.

On the 11th hole on Sunday, Pieters had some trouble off of the tee and hit his seventh shot from near the gorse bushes on the left side onto the green. The shot wasn’t received well, however, and Pieters turned his 5-iron into two 5-irons and discarded them into the offending foliage.

As Peter Jacobson said on the call, “You learn one thing about playing in the Open: if you can’t break par, you might as well break something.”

Golf is hard.
