Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler are both 25 years old. They both live in “Golfer’s Paradise” near Jupiter, Fla. They both turned in massively impressive years at the majors in 2014.
They’re going to see a lot of each other over the next decade or two. And they’re looking forward to the battles.
After coming up just short in a second straight major to McIlroy, Fowler took to Twitter to express his frustration:
Really felt like I could win it today…this one hurts…I’ll be able to look back and learn a lot from the majors this year #patience

But this is a man with class; he’s not crass. One minute after saying the loss hurt, he congratulated the player who has now twice kept Fowler from winning his first major:
Congrats to @McIlroyRory on some great golf as of late…let’s keep having fun with it!

Two hours later, amidst his victory celebration, McIlroy responded, also with class:

I guess McIlroy could say only he, Tiger, Jack and Bobby Jones had four majors at age 25, but anyway. While McIlroy is enduring a draining fun media tour to recount his three big wins in the past month, Fowler gets a week of rest and relaxation. Really, who’s the winner there?
