Paula Creamer Visits Troops, Plays ‘World’s Most Dangerous Golf Course’

Paula Creamer has long been a staunch supporter of U.S. troops. Soon after winning the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open, she hopped in an F-16 with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. This past December, she became engaged to a major in the Air Force Reserve, Derek Heath (who proposed while skydiving). And this past June, she visited some troops at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

On Sunday, the world’s 16th-ranked golfer met with the U.S. Army’s 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea. Suffice it to say it was a little more interesting than your weekend of watching golf and football. Creamer arrived via Blackhawk, signed some autographs, learned how to throw a tomahawk, tested some big guns, and played golf on what has been billed as the “world’s most dangerous golf course.”

The course isn’t really a course, but actually a 192-yard par 3 in the middle of a demilitarized zone at Camp Bonifas, where all visitors must heed this warning on a sign: “Danger! Do not retrieve balls from the rough live mine fields.” Yes, mine fields.

Creamer shared her journey on Instagram:

There’s nothing like swinging with gunshots in your backswing! @sportsillustrated gave it the title: surrounded on three sides by minefields and is located only 400 meters south of the Korean Demilitarized Zone #PCvisits2ID
