Leave it to Philadelphia to give us some unique and interesting story lines while hosting the U.S. Open.  First it was the extreme weather conditions.  Then Phil Mickelson’s travel plans and exceptional play caused a stir.  Lee Westwood bounced a ball off the famous wicker basket at the 12th hole and almost off a spectator’s head… and that was just Day 1.

Now early on Friday, Carl Pettersson has given us another buzz-worthy moment.  While in his backswing on the fifth hole, Pettersson’s ball was struck by an errant shot from Brandon Crick who was hitting off the tee on second hole.

Pettersson was allowed to return his ball to its original spot after the incident and continued play.
