It seems only fitting at this point that Bubba Watson would win in dramatic fashion.
From double-bogey to eagle and a lengthy playoff birdie putt, the man that pulled off one of golf’s most miraculous shots two years ago to win his first green jacket completed another miraculous turnaround Sunday to defeat Tim Clark at the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai, China.
Watson led by two shots with two holes to play before a heartbreaking double-bogey on No. 17. It didn’t let him down, though, as he promptly holed out from a bunker for eagle on 18 to force a playoff with Clark. From there, Bubba buried a 20-footer for birdie to stake claim to the season’s first WGC title.

“You never know what he’s going to do,” Rickie Fowler told the Associated Press. Fowler, one of Watson’s good friends on tour, played alongside him during the final round and tied for third.
Clark added to the theatrics as well. He birdied his 72nd hole to tie Watson at the top of the leaderboard and nearly matched with a 25-foot birdie attempt in the playoff.
It’s the first World Golf Championships title for the two-time Masters winner and it did wonders to his FedExCup rankings, bumping him into the top five thanks to the weight the WGC titles hold.
