9 Golfers Known For Their Charitable Contributions

Golf, as a whole, is a very charitable game — especially at the highest level. There’s a long list of professional golfers known for their charitable giving. Heck, the PGA Tour recently surpassed the $2 billion mark in its collective charity giving.

With that in mind, we decided to take a look at 9 notable players that are known for their charitable efforts:

Tiger Woods
In addition to being the world’s most dominant player for the better part of the last 15 years, Tiger has also put together quite the charitable resume. Since creating the Tiger Woods Foundation in 1996, Woods has helped provide for millions of students hoping to go to college, who otherwise wouldn’t have had the means.

Phil Mickelson
Since 2004, the Phil and Amy Mickelson Foundation has been helping youth and family initiatives. The foundation launched Start Smart, a San Diego-based initiative geared towards improving the classroom experience for early-aged children.

Adam Scott
Indeed, there’s much more to Scott than those dead-straight drives. Launched in 2005, the Adam Scott Foundation began in his native Australia but has since grown into Asia. The foundation goes to support youths on both continents through scholarships, Education for Kids program and Adam Scott Foundation Youth Centers.

Arnold Palmer
Is there anything this guy doesn’t do? Arnold has long been philanthropic and since retiring from competition, his kindness and thoughtfulness has only grown. Palmer has made an impact on many charities and organizations, including his own Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies in Orlando.

Brad Faxon & Billy Andrade
Good friends Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade joined up to form the Billy Andrade-Brad Faxon Charities for Children Foundation in their native Rhode Island. Additionally, the pair support numerous charities, including the YMCA.

Bubba Watson
It’s not all long drives and Bubba golf for the two-time Masters champion. He’s a big supporter of charities and launched in 2012 his “Drive to a Million” campaign, which has raised more than $1.3 million. Bubba also contributes efforts to Birdies for the Brave, Green Beret Foundation and The First Tee.

Annika Sorenstam
Launched in 2007 following the completion of Sorenstam’s amazing LPGA career, the ANNIKA Foundation works to provide children with the opportunity to lead a healthy life. In 2008, Annika was named the “Most Caring Athlete” by USA Weekend.

Notah Begay
A close friend of Tiger Woods, Notah is a former PGA Tour player and now devotes much of his energy to the NB3 Foundation, which works to reduce childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes among Native American children.

Ben Crane
In addition to his lead duties with “The Golf Boys,” Crane is one of the PGA Tour’s most charitable players. Crane’s big effort supports the St. Bernard Project, which helps Hurricane Katrina survivors return to their communities. Crane also works with the College Golf Fellowship among other notable charities.
