Lindsey Vonn is in Philadelphia this week to watch her man, Tiger Woods, compete in the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club. Bill Pennington of the New York Times had the chance to speak to Vonn on what it’s like to date Mr. Woods.
“I can be normal by myself; no one notices me,” Vonn told Pennington. “But wherever he’s around, we’re living in a fishbowl. I didn’t quite know what I was getting myself into. It’s weird. But it’s just something I have to deal with. He has his job, and I have mine. I just have to get used to it.”
How is that even possible? How could Vonn not “know what she was getting into”? Has she been living in a cave on Mars with her eyes shut and her fingers in her ears? Tiger Woods is a bit of a polarizing sports figure, Lindsey. Tiger might have had a “thing” going on a few years ago. Ever heard of Google?
“Some people seem to forget that I’m not just Tiger’s girlfriend,” Vonn continued. “I’m actually a successful athlete. I’m Lindsey. I have my own career and my own life.”
We all acknowledge that you’re a fantastic athlete in your own right, Lindsey. But the moment you begin dating the equivalent of this generation’s Jack Nicklaus, you’re setting yourself up for some major shadow coverage.
Next thing we know Lindsey will act confused as to why Tiger prefers Perkin’s over Denny’s.
