Man Makes 120-Foot Putt to Win $100,000

The Venture Minnesota Golf Show is one of the many traveling golf exhibits held around the country each year, but they have a contest that draws in crowds by the hundred.

For a few bucks, Show-goers can step up and hit three putts across 110 feet of astroturf and up an artificial green hill for their chance to win prizes totaling $100,000. For the past 28 years, the putt was unmakeable, but this past weekend, Paul Shadle stepped up the “green” and hit the putt of his life.

Sean Fairholm of Global Golf Post had more information on the monster putt.

For the past 28 years, the Venture Minnesota Golf Show has hosted a putting contest where contestants can pay $5 for three attempts to hole a 120-foot putt on artificial turf.

Nobody had ever made it. Until Sunday.

Paul Shadle, a 49-year-old corporate pilot from Rosemount, Minn., sank the mammoth putt Sunday and sent the crowd into pandemonium. For his miraculous effort, Shadle won a pontoon boat valued at $75,000 and a cool $25,000 in cash.

The proceeds of the contest go toward the First Tee Foundation to help the local youth in Minnesota.
