Tilghman Leaving Golf Channel After 22 Years

A Golf Channel staple will be signing off this week. Host Kelly Tilghman will be stepping away from the broadcast desk after 22 years with the network.

In an interview with Golfweek.com, Tilghman called her reduced role in recent years a necessary “weening” as she exits the company. She said despite leaving her role at Golf Channel, she hopes to continue broadcasting.

“This process was very peaceful for me,” Tilghman told Golfweek. “I can’t imagine a scenario where I would never be on television again.”

Her Golf Channel colleagues threw a party to celebrate her run at the company on Tuesday night, which included prerecorded videos from the likes of Tiger Woods and Scott Van Pelt.

Tilghman’s last broadcast will be on Sunday evening’s Golf Central following the conclusion of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

In a post announcing her departure, Tilghman wrote why the Bay Hill tournament made perfect sense to her for a final event.

“It’s the perfect spot for so many obvious reasons. Arnold’s family will be there. My Golf Channel and NBC family will be there. I know you will too, like you always have. I’ll forever cherish the memories we’ve built together.”
