Esquire’s Best Bars in America – A comprehensive list including at least one bar from all 50 states. Sadly, my home state of Connecticut managed only one bar that I have not only never been to, but I’ve never even heard of it.
My only question here is who comes up with these lists and how the hell do they go about rating these bars? Like apparently this place The Buffet in Tucson, AZ is the best bar in the country? Granted, Arizona is pretty well known for having some of the hottest women in the country so, I guess if any of them are there it helps there chances but, I just want to know what the criteria for “best bar” is.
There’s a place about 1/10 of a mile from my house that I’m scared shitless to go to. Grady’s Tavern. I have to drive past it every single day and almost every time I see it I consider going in. It’s probably the most curious I’ve ever been about a place without actually going through with experiencing it. I’m just way too terrified. No matter what time, no matter what day of the week, the tiny little parking lot is filled with pickup trucks and 3-5 “interesting” looking individuals smoking cigarettes. I have no idea what goes on in there but, I think there are pool tables. From what I can gather, the people that go to Grady’s go there everyday of their lives. So, to them, it’s the best bar in all the land. I guess my point is that living where I live I haven’t had the chance to experience some of the “best bars” in America. Maybe I need to broaden my horizons. But, more than likely I’ll just keep walking across the street, drinking my Sam Adams, and watching my beloved Red Sox limp their way to another 70 win season. Cheers! I guess.
