Test Drive: $230K Donkervoort D8 GTO Blister Berg Edition

Aside from having the coolest (and longest) name of any car out there, the Donkervoort D8 GTO Blister Berg Edition is a ride that will get eyes looking your way everywhere you go. It’s hard to imagine a car more eye-catching than a Porsche or Lamborghini, but this one might take the cake.

The D8 GTO Blister Berg Edition is a special model to commemorate Donkervoort’s performance at the Bilster Berg track in Germany. The car manufacturer set the record for the fastest lap by a street-legal car, and thus the Blister Berg edition was born.

But let’s be honest, this car isn’t about a record-breaking performance. It’s about how it looks. The long nose of the car makes it immediately eye-catching. The Indy car-style wheels are reminiscent of the Plymouth Prowler, and the exposed side-exhaust pipes are similar to classic Corvettes.

Pair those features with the Corvette-like tail lights and you’ve got yourself one bad ride.

On the performance side, the D8 GTO has 2.5-liter turbo engine with 380 horsepower and goes from zero to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds. Those are the reasons why this is a record-breaking car.

And because we all care about our weight, Donkervoort dropped the overall mass of the car in the Blister Berg Edition by 22 pounds — if that means anything to you.

To get your hands on one of these, you’ll have to have deep pockets and a quick trigger. Donkervoort is only making 14 examples of the Blister Berg Edition, each to be sold for $230,000.

If you’re hesitant on buying one, just think about telling all of your friends that you own the fastest street-legal car to hit the Blister Berg track. I bet you want one now, don’t you?
