It was an eventful week in golf on two coasts, including a great finish to the Northern Trust Open and President Obama’s 114th round in office — with a very special guest.
Tiger leads Obama foursome during president’s vacation round
While most of us would rather have seen Tiger at Riviera over the weekend, Woods clearly had something decently important on his schedule. Apparently, Woods and Obama have formed a decent relationship as time has passed. Let’s hope that Tiger spends the majority of his future weekends playing against the pros.
PGA Tour may oppose putter ban
In a closed meeting on Feb. 18, the governing body of the PGA Tour will supposedly discuss the proposed ban on anchored putters. While players such as Keegan Bradley and Adam Scott await the final verdict on the ban, this is the first time that the PGA Tour will openly discuss the ban moving forward.

Mariah Stackhouse set the NCAA women’s scoring record over the weekend with her 10-under-par 61 in the second round of the Peg Barnard Invitational. Not a terrible start to a college golf career, huh?
John Merrick gets his first PGA win at Riviera
On a weekend that felt like no one wanted to win, John Merrick pulled away from Charlie Beljan on the second playoff hole to cap off his first career victory on the PGA Tour. After Beljan sank a 10-footer to make his way into a playoff, it seemed as if all the momentum had shifted but, Merrick’s incredible low 3-iron shot into the 18th green led him to his first win on tour.
