Talk about an emergency 9. Last night a single-engine World War I replica plane was forced to land on the fairway of a Pennsylvania golf course due to inclement weather. ABC 6 Philadelphia has the story:
Storm clouds forced a pilot to make an emergency landing on a northeastern Pennsylvania golf course.
The pilot was flying this single-engine world-war one replica plane from Wisconsin to upstate New York last night.
When the weather got really bad, he landed on the fairway at the Honesdale Golf Club, northeast of Scranton.
People who were golfing at the time say the plane bounced a few times before stopping.
No one was hurt, but the plane was banged up a bit.
While planes making emergency landings on golf courses is not completely out of the ordinary, the fact that golfers were playing at the time takes this situation to the next level. Imagine standing over a putt and seeing this unfold in front of you…exactly. Thankfully nobody was injured.
According to the USGA, if it is deemed an airplane caused the ball to move you are still assessed a one-stroke penalty, probably.
