Kuchar Dethroned as Ping-Pong Champ by Rookie

Matt Kuchar is one of the most well-liked and well-respected players on the PGA Tour. With seven PGA Tour wins to his name as well as multiple team events, an Olympic bronze medal and more than$41 million in career earnings on his résumé, Kuchar carries a certain level of clout wherever he goes.

However, his best-known skill amongst his peers — right up there with his sense of humor and ability to give fellow pros the needle — is his ability on the ping-pong table. Kuchar has long been the undisputed PGA Tour ping-pong champion. That is, until this past week in China when he fell to Tour rookie Marty Dou.

Dou is the first Chinese-born player to have earned a PGA Tour card and now he holds the prestigious honor of “Best Ping-Pong Player on Tour.” Dou jumped onto the scene by winning four times on the PGA Tour China circuit in 2016 and once last year on the Web.com Tour.

Dou has played in two events so far this season, the Safeway Classic and the HSBC Champions. After missing the cut in his first start, Dou finished in a tie for 69th in Shanghai.
