Spieth’s Brother Gets Heckled On The Court

Imagine being Steven Spieth.

The 22-year-old senior at Brown University is a star on the school’s basketball team, but when the team plays on the road, he hears it from opposing fans because of the member of the family he isn’t.

Sitting down for an interview with ESPN.com’s Jeff Goodman following a rigorous mini decathlon prior to a Brown game this year that included a game of P-I-G, one-on-one and a putting challenge, Steven and Jordan dished on a few topics, such as who is more athletic, what characteristics of each other they admire and what it’s like to play Division I college basketball as Jordan’s little brother.

That last bit brought about Steven’s story of how he is routinely heckled.

“In any gym that’s half packed, I hear a bunch of ‘Fores!’ as I’m shooting,” Steven said.

“That’s awesome,” Jordan said.

Steven is averaging just shy of 15 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the Bears this season, the best on the team in both categories. The heckling doesn’t just come from opposing fans, however. Jordan’s friend, Justin Thomas, also gets in on the needling with the younger Spieth brother.
