After just one season coaching the Brooklyn Nets, Jason Kidd landed a new gig with the Milwaukee Bucks. So he’s selling his home in the Hamptons … for reasons we don’t understand. Maybe it’s just us, but if we were making between $3-4 million a year, like Kidd is, we’d be sure to keep a summer home on Long Island if the rest of our year had to spent in Wisconsin.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Kidd’s reason for listing the 7,800-square-foot mansion in Water Mill, N.Y., is because he wants to be closer to Milwaukee. His asking price is $7.995 million.

The home features six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a “man cave” area on the main floor, a wrap-around balcony on the second level, and a wrap-around porch on the first level. It also comes completely furnished. And out by the swimming pool is a carriage house that could be used as a gym or office.
The gated property is two acres in all, and in addition to the pool it includes a tennis court, half basketball court, a putting green, and enough yard space to practice approach shots onto that green. Just 15 minutes away are three of the best golf courses you’ll find: Sebonack, Shinnecock Hills and National Golf Links.
That proximity to exquisite golf is why we’re curious as to why Kidd is selling the place. Maybe he’ll take the cash and downsize with a condo in the same area, but surely a single-digit handicapper like Kidd would prefer to spend his summers (the NBA’s offseason) in the Hamptons rather than Wisconsin.
And he’s giving up a backyard in which he can practice his short game? He’s clearly more committed to this coaching thing than improving his handicap.
