Surely you’ve heard the hit song “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. It came out last fall, accompanied by a normal four-minute music video, but also the world’s first 24-hour music video.
Before long, the track topped music charts all over the world. So happy were people with this song that they began filming themselves dancing around the streets, mimicking Pharrell in the original, spawning a YouTube video craze unlike any the world has ever seen. They poured in from everywhere, so naturally, a website was created to aggregate them: WeAreHappyFrom.com. As of this posting, 1,950 videos from 153 countries have been found.
Last week, some employees from the Emirates Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club got in on the fun. Good dancers they are not. Happy? Yes they are (especially the man in the bunker playing guitar with a rake):
