Fitzgerald Aces Hole While Playing With Obama

Holes-in-one don’t come around very often; holes-in-one with heads of state occur even more infrequently, but that’s exactly what perennial NFL All-Star and certified golf nut Larry Fitzgerald did on Friday, according to GolfChannel.com’s Tim Rosaforte.

Playing a round at the exclusive Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Florida alongside former President Barack Obama, club president Jimmy Dunne and part owner of the Boston Celtics, Glenn Hutchins, Fitzgerald holed an 8-iron from 162 yards on the par-3 13th hole.

Dunne wielded some of his own power as club president, waiving the club’s no cell phones on the course rule so that Fitzgerald could make a call and take pictures of the moment.

“I’m playing with the President of the United States and I just made a hole-in-one,” shouted Fitzgerald into his phone. “This is unbelievable!”

Dunne set the scene for Rosaforte, “Obama had just hit his approach shot 20 feet from the hole when Fitzgerald stepped up with an 8-iron from 162 yards out and jarred it.”

According to Rosaforte, the January 18th round was Fitzgerald’s first of the year after his football season ended on December 30 with 27-24 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Fitzgerald, a 10.7 handicap, is getting his game in order to defend his title in three weeks at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am where he won the Pro-Am portion of the event last year alongside Ted Potter, Jr.
