Cell Service Is Spotty After This Trick Shot Fail

Golf is a social sport, and we think it’s fun to share golf experiences; the good, the bad, and the ugly. Partnering with our friends at gottaGolf (The Ball Tracer & Social Golf App), SxS is proud to bring you “Golf Fails brought to you by gottaGolf,” a weekly reminder that golf is… really hard.

Trust is a big part of the trick shot racket. Whether the trick shot artist is asking for help from an unwitting spectator as a prop or using an unwitting spectator’s possessions as their prop, the trust has to be there.

Dan Boever has earned the trust he requests from his crowds. An experienced corporate and charity golf entertainer, Boever has put on hundreds, if not thousands, of clinics and demonstrations. However, when one of his tricks go wrong — and we mean horribly wrong — it will live on the internet for years to come.

Take for instance the above video shot at the Eric Trump Foundation Golf Tournament in 2016. Boever borrowed reality television star and CEO of Duck Commander Willie Robertson’s cell phone for a trick shot. With the ball teed only a few millimeters from the top of the iPhone, Boever went on to absolutely smash Robertson’s phone to pieces.

Luckily, Robertson’s net worth is estimated to be somewhere around $20 million, so he can afford another phone.
