You may catch glimpses of a giant octopus behind the fourth green at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club. Well, why wouldn’t there be an octopus sitting in somebody’s back garden?
Turns out that it’s a stunt organized by betting company Betfair. And the reason? According to the company: “To celebrate the start of The Open, Betfair is hosting a party ‘In an Octopus’s Garden.’ It’s our nod to the song ‘Octopus’s Garden’ by Liverpool’s most famous sons, The Beatles.”
I wonder if Billy Horschel, who wore a pair of octopus-themed golf pants during last year’s U.S. Open at Merion, will drop in for a bite.
